IBMI leadership meeting
2019-11-26

The first meeting with the board of directors and supervisors was held on 26 November, where the former president of Academia Sinica, Dr. Chi-Huey Wong, was elected as the president to head IBMI. Wong would be joined by three vice presidents: Pan-Chyr Yang, the former president of National Taiwan University, Barry Lam, chairman of Quanta Computer and Chang-Hai Tsai, chairman of China Medicine University Hospital. The former president IBMI Wei-Chao Chen would assume a role as the convenor to the board.

The election of president and VPs marked the dawn of innovation in healthcare, as the technology sector and their senior executives, such as Barry Lam, Tung-Tzu-Hsien(童子賢) at Pegatron, Shui-Shu Hong (洪水樹) at Catcher Technology, Simon Lin (林憲銘) at Wistron, K.C. Liu (劉克振) at Advantech, Yeh Po-ren (葉博任) at Realtek Semiconductor and Chien Lee-feng (簡立峰) at Google Taiwan, were elected and would be the driving force of Taiwan’s health industry development.

Having the technology sector with IBMI would add momentum to Taiwan’s healthcare industry, spark cross-industry dialogues and collaborations, and bridge the healthcare industry with opportunities to reach out to global markets, Wong remarked.

Going alongside the meeting was an industry forum ‘Find blue oceans together with ICT and healthcare ’, which was moderated by IBMI’s newly elected VP Yang. The forum invited Pegatron chairman, president Tai-Lung Cha (查岱龍) at National Defense Medical Center , superintendent Meng-Ru Shen (沈孟儒) at National Cheng Kung University Hospital, superintendent Mu-Kuan Chen (陳穆寬) at Changhua Christian Hospital, chairman & CEO Bobby Sheng (盛保熙) at Bora Pharmaceuticals, to deliver keynotes and take part in panel discussions on cross-industry partnerships.
