2020-03-11

Jin-Pyng Wang, Founder of IBMI visited Minister of Legislative Yuan Shyi-Kun Yu on 9 March with aims at inviting the government’s efforts to cultivate a positive future for Taiwan’s healthcare industry.

The government has been supportive since the Healthcare+ Expo launched in 2017, namely the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Science and Technology, Council of Agriculture and Taipei City Government- as co-organisers of the Expo. The president of Legislative Yuan takes the lead role in coordinating cross-sectoral communication. Jia-Chyuan Su, president 2018-2019, enhanced the global presence of the Expo in his tenure, and now president Yu will follow the lead to position the Expo a medical innovation hub.

Yu remarked that Taiwan’s advantage of healthcare has been widely complimented amid the coronavirus outbreak. Together with the new southbound policy, Taiwan can certainly be promoted as an ideal destination for foreign patients.

Wang added that the Healthcare+ Expo would be the best way for the world to familiarise with Taiwan’s expertise and achievements in biotechnology and medicine. With the ICT sector’s participation in the Expo, more positive outcomes can therefore be expected.
