Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital was the first university hospital affiliated to a private medical college in Taiwan. Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital is responsible for teaching and medical care. It provides 350 acute general beds and 522 special beds. The total floor area is about 22,260 square meters. The medical building is a building with 10 floors above ground and 3 floors underground. It will be the high-quality medical care of the university-affiliated hospital that creates a model community hospital that provides full-time and comprehensive personal care medical care.

Gangshan Hospital is the only municipal hospital in the north Kaohsiung, having a mission of caring for the health of Gangshan people. In 2000, Show Chwan Memorial Hospital took over the running of operation with private management of public mode. Show Chwan got the management right again with the excellent operating performance under the competition from multiple hospitals in 2016. Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital (KMSH) was established in 1998, and has been run by Kaohsiung Medical University(KMU) for 20 years. This is the first case that a public hospital was operated by a private corporation and supported by private resources. This is also the first public hospital in Taiwan entrusted to a private medical center.

Located at an industrial area and a transportation hub for land, sea and air transportation, KMSH provides high-quality medical service to areas lacking medical resources, such as Siaogang, Wujia, Cianjhen, Cijin, Daliao, Linyuan, and other districts. KMSH is the only local teaching hospital that provides emergency service with the support of medical center, and thus reduces the gap of medical resources between Northern and Southern Kaohsiung. As KMSH is close to the airport, industrial area and Kaohsiung Harbor, it has become an important medical institution providing acute and critical care to local and foreign labor, new inhabitants and indigenous people in Southern Kaohsiung.
