Since the Taipei Veterans General Hospital was founded in 1958 and administered by the Veterans Affairs Commission of Taiwan, the whole staff of the hospital has abided by a philosophy of “treating patients like family, pursing excellence, honoring ethics, complying with the law, and being trustworthy.” We have devoted ourselves to providing state-of-the-art medical services, and nurturing teaching and research talent to meet international requirements. We are not only the largest public medical center in Taiwan but also a key medical research site worldwide. As a national first class medical center and a teaching hospital, we provide tertiary patient care, undergraduate medical education programs and residency programs in Taiwan.
The hospital has over 3,000 beds, more than 1,100 specialist physicians, and more than 6,000 employees. Besides providing outpatient services for 2.6 million outpatient visits and inpatient care for over 118,000 patients every year, it has been designated to provide medical care to successive head of state of Taiwan. The high standard of medical services here are not only trusted by local Taiwanese but also patients from overseas, more than 25,000 patients who visit each year due to the good reputation or due to referral for treatment. Meanwhile well-trained medical teams have been actively taking part in medical aid and emergency rescue missions in international society. Whenever the world needs us, our medical teams are ready to go.
