On July 11, Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) officially passed the Stage 6 certification of the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) developed by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). This milestone reflects the hospital’s attainment of globally advanced standards in key areas such as EMR system functionality, clinical decision support, and information security—demonstrating TVGH’s strong capabilities and tangible achievements in the realm of smart healthcare.
Wui-Chiang Lee, Deputy Superintendent of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, attended the HIMSS Asia-Pacific Annual Conference held in Malaysia on July 18 to formally receive the certification. During the event, he also engaged with medical IT experts and leaders from around the world to exchange insights on smart healthcare development, promote global collaboration, and align Taiwan’s medical technology with international standards—enhancing TVGH’s global visibility and influence, and injecting new momentum into Taiwan’s smart healthcare advancement.
The EMRAM model, established by HIMSS, assesses the maturity of electronic medical record systems across eight levels from 0 to 7. Achieving Stage 6 is particularly demanding. It requires not only a fully implemented EMR system with backup mechanisms, but also closed-loop clinical process management, effective information integration to support clinical decision-making, enhanced patient safety measures, and rigorous cybersecurity controls—all aimed at improving healthcare quality and operational efficiency through digital innovation.
TVGH has long been committed to building a robust smart healthcare infrastructure by integrating cross-departmental information platforms and applying big data and AI technologies to continuously elevate care standards. Receiving the EMRAM Stage 6 certification is a testament to TVGH’s excellence in medical informatization and clinical service integration, and it underscores the hospital’s leadership in smart healthcare.
Looking ahead, TVGH will use this achievement as a foundation to pursue Stage 7 certification—the highest level of EMRAM. The hospital plans to further deepen its smart healthcare initiatives and promote high-quality, patient-centered medical services. At the same time, it will actively seek international partnerships to drive innovation in Taiwan’s healthcare sector and establish a new benchmark in intelligent healthcare delivery.
