Targeting the trillion-dollar global silver economy, the “2025 Healthy Ageing Tech Show,” co-hosted by the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI), the Research Center for Biotechnology and Medicine Policy, the Department of Industrial Development (DID), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), will take place from August 8 to 10. This year’s event brings together 350 leading exhibitors across 1,200 booths, setting a new record in scale.
With Taiwan’s population aged 65 and above projected to reach 4.85 million in 2025—accounting for 20.8% of the population—the nation will officially enter a super-aged society. Industry observers note that this first-of-its-kind and largest senior-focused exhibition in Taiwan is more than a showcase of aging solutions. It also serves as a key platform to integrate policy, industry, and resources, and is poised to become an important barometer for tracking silver economy trends and investment opportunities.
Now in its second edition, the Healthy Ageing Tech Show has already attracted thousands of daily registrations, with attendance expected to hit new highs, underscoring the immense potential of the ageing economy.
IBMI highlighted that this year’s theme, “Rejuvenation,” will be presented through six themed exhibition zones, including healthcare, financial security, senior employment, livable cities, and lifestyle solutions. Major financial institutions such as Cathay, Fubon, CTBC, Taishin, and Shin Kong Financial Holdings will join forces with leading medical institutions including National Taiwan University Hospital, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, China Medical University Hospital, and the Chinese Medicine Manufacturers’ Association. Six featured events will also be held to encourage collaboration and real-world validation of age-friendly technologies and solutions, making the show a landmark annual gathering for the senior industry.
Local governments are also playing an active role. The six municipalities, joined by Chiayi, Yunlin, Pingtung, and Yilan, will showcase achievements in long-term care, age-friendly transportation, and community meal programs, reflecting strong regional innovation and ambitions to build senior-friendly cities.
Corporate participation spans a wide range of sectors, from technology giants and food brands to financial services and smart building companies, all eyeing the silver economy. The Healthcare Zone will feature both major medical centers and startups—including NTU Hospital, Chang Gung, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, imedtac, BIONET, and Far EasTone Telecommunications—presenting innovations such as telemedicine, AI-powered assistive devices, and fall detection systems.
Financial institutions are introducing solutions for senior wealth management and fraud prevention. Seven major financial groups, including Cathay, Fubon, CTBC, Taishin, Shin Kong, and E.SUN, will present offerings in the Financial Security Zone, ranging from post-retirement asset allocation strategies to ATM fraud prevention, smart trust services, and senior-focused financial education.
Food and lifestyle brands are also launching tailored products, with Taiwan Sugar, Nestlé, and Standard Foods focusing on nutrition and convenient food solutions. Taiwan High Speed Rail and SECOM are showcasing mobility safety systems and emergency alert platforms, providing seniors with smarter, more practical services.
For the first time, the Senior Employment Zone will debut, led by the Ministry of Labor, connecting businesses with older workers to align with trends in delayed retirement and diversified work models.
