New Drug Licensing to Bear Fruit in Q4: AP Biosciences, Oneness Biotech, and TAHO Pharmaceuticals Gain International Attention
2025-08-28

Taiwan’s new drug licensing momentum is accelerating, with several companies expected to see results next quarter. The biotech sector has recently attracted significant capital inflows, with companies such as OBI Pharma’s AP Biosciences, MICROBIO Group’s Oneness Biotech, and TAHO Pharmaceuticals gaining attention as their pipeline products move closer to licensing milestones, with positive developments anticipated in the coming quarter.

Meanwhile, with U.S. tariff issues stabilizing and domestic capital market uncertainties easing, biotech has become a safe haven for investors. These companies, driven by the prospect of international licensing, have become hotspots for market capital, with AP Biosciences—an important affiliate of OBI Pharma—seeing its share price surge sharply in recent days.

Listed on the Emerging Stock Board, AP Biosciences is a key strategic investment for OBI Pharma, which holds more than 27% of its shares and remains the largest shareholder. AP Biosciences was among the first in Taiwan to specialize in bispecific antibody drug development, a field that has become a hot licensing area internationally. Analysts note that its technology is highly competitive on the global stage.

Among its four clinical-stage programs, IB1302, targeting age-related macular degeneration, has already been licensed to Innovent Biologics (Jiangsu, China), which is conducting Phase III trials. Interim data are expected by year-end, and if results are positive, the program could secure further licensing deals, with AP Biosciences positioned to receive double-digit percentage royalties. Market observers highlight that ophthalmology represents a massive therapeutic market, particularly in wet AMD, considered a “blockbuster” category. A successful re-licensing would offer AP Biosciences significant upside potential.

Oneness Biotech has also advanced, with its diabetic foot ulcer cream Bonvadis (ON101) already approved by the U.S. FDA, paving the way for global commercialization of this innovative therapy. The company is actively seeking major international licensing partnerships to drive U.S. market growth. Additionally, Oneness recently completed an exploratory clinical trial combining Keytruda (pembrolizumab) with its PD-1 immunotherapy candidate, yielding positive results. The company plans to initiate international licensing and market expansion efforts this year, strengthening its presence in the immuno-oncology sector.

Further, MICROBIO (Shanghai), a subsidiary of MICROBIO Group, has achieved progress with its diabetic foot ulcer therapy Xiang Lei Tang Zu Gao, which was recently included in commercial insurance coverage in Guangzhou. This is expected to accelerate adoption and clinical application in China.

Meanwhile, TAHO Pharmaceuticals has completed its pivotal U.S. trial of the novel anti-thrombosis oral film TAH3311, with results meeting all endpoints. The company is preparing to submit an NDA to the U.S. FDA in the third quarter of this year.
