Maywufa Group held a joint investor conference on the 2nd, showcasing how its three core businesses—consumer products (Maywufa), new drug development (PhytoHealth), and smart healthcare (AmCad BioMed)—are driving diversified growth. Maywufa continues to consolidate its leading position in the daily consumer goods market while introducing smart factory operations. PhytoHealth is accelerating international expansion with its two flagship drugs “PhytoHealth Hemaboost” and “PhytoHealth Painrelief,” while AmCad BioMed is leveraging AI-based medical devices and handheld ultrasound (POCUS) to tap into global markets.
Maywufa General Manager Eric Lai noted that the company has maintained its position as Taiwan’s leading local brand in the shampoo market through a multi-brand strategy. Its flagship “Maywufa” haircare line continues to dominate the hair dye and care segments, while emerging brand “Soleil Élan” is expanding into feminine intimate care, becoming a new growth driver. In addition, French maternity and baby care brand Mustela, which Maywufa distributes, has maintained stable sales despite Taiwan’s declining birth rate.
Maywufa’s new GMP-certified green building factory was completed and put into operation at the end of 2024. It has boosted production efficiency and successfully implemented a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), enabling capacity to fully support business growth.
PhytoHealth General Manager Angel Lee stated that “PhytoHealth Hemaboost” has been included in the latest clinical guidelines as a first-line treatment for moderate to severe cancer-related fatigue. The drug has been on the market for 15 years, is covered by Taiwan’s National Health Insurance, and is used by 90% of the country’s major medical centers. Real-world data published last year showed 91% of patients experienced symptom improvement and 85% were rated by physicians as having overall therapeutic benefit. These results have been presented in international journals and conferences.
PhytoHealth’s other new pain medication “PhytoHealth Painrelief” is the world’s first oral formulation of nalbuphine, offering low addiction potential. It has already been introduced in over 30 hospitals in Taiwan. In Q1 this year, PhytoHealth signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Germany’s Aristo Pharma to enter the nearly US$200 million German pain drug market, with regulatory submissions expected to begin in Q4.
AmCad BioMed Chairperson and CEO Angel Lee (Li, Yi-Ling) stated that the company has obtained certifications from the U.S. FDA and EU MDR, holds 31 patents, and has published more than 60 papers in international journals. AmCad has established six product lines—AmCad ThyroScan, AmCad SleepScan, AmCad CellScan, AmCad BreastScan, AmCad UltraVision, and its acoustic scattering tissue imaging platform—four of which are FDA 510(k)-cleared, laying a solid foundation for further expansion.
Lee noted that AmCad ThyroScan has over 90% accuracy and is now deployed in more than 30 hospitals in Taiwan. It is currently under discussion for inclusion in Taiwan’s National Health Insurance reimbursement sandbox and may be reimbursed by year-end.
Meanwhile, AmCad SleepScan, used for obstructive sleep apnea detection, offers rapid and non-invasive testing and has been validated in collaboration with multiple medical institutions in Taiwan and overseas, with demonstration sites already established in the Middle East. The company is also advancing its AI-powered handheld ultrasound (POCUS) system, with the first government procurement in Jordan scheduled for 2025 and plans to expand further into Europe, the U.S., and emerging markets.
