TAIGEN Signs New Drug Licensing Agreement, Officially Enters Vietnam Market
2025-11-01

TAIGEN-KY announced on October 1 that its subsidiary, Taigen Biotech, has signed a licensing agreement with Vietnamese pharmaceutical companies Fideschem Inc. and Newsun Pharmaceutical JSC for the antibiotic new drug Taijiexin, marking the company’s expansion into the Southeast Asian pharmaceutical market following Singapore and Malaysia.

Under the agreement, the licensing rights for Taijiexin’s oral capsules and intravenous formulations in Vietnam are granted to Fideschem Inc. and Newsun Pharmaceutical JSC, who will jointly handle regulatory approval and market commercialization in Vietnam. The contract term is 20 years from the effective date.

According to TAIGEN, Fideschem Inc. specializes in strategic integration, regulatory preparation, and international cooperation, while Newsun Pharmaceutical JSC focuses on sales channels spanning hospitals to pharmacies nationwide. The complementary expertise of these two partners is expected to provide comprehensive market development support for Taijiexin in Vietnam, accelerating its launch and enhancing market penetration.

TAIGEN Chairman Huang Guo-Long stated that Taijiexin is indicated for community-acquired pneumonia, which accounts for approximately 12% of all pneumonia cases in Vietnam. The country has a pneumonia incidence rate of 561 per 100,000 population, making it the second most prevalent disease after hypertension. Such high prevalence underscores the urgent demand for effective drugs and innovative treatment solutions, highlighting the significance of introducing new medications locally.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), from 2020 to 2023, approximately 270,000 patients in Vietnam died due to antibiotic-resistant infections. Vietnam ranks among the countries most severely affected by antibiotic resistance globally and is the second highest in the Western Pacific region in deaths related to antibiotic resistance, placing a substantial burden on the local public health system.
