Healthcare Expo Taiwan to Spark Global Procurement Surge
2026-01-04

The 2025 Healthcare Expo Taiwan will be held from December 4 to 7. This year, international buyers from Europe, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa are coming to Taiwan for the first time with “procurement lists in hand” to actively source products. The Czech Health Technology Agency has launched an Africa-focused medical aid procurement plan worth €200 million (approximately NT$7.165 billion), identifying Taiwan as a key partner and driving a wave of large-scale purchases.

Allen Wu, Chief Operating Officer of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (生策會), stated that this year marks a major turning point for the expo, evolving from “Taiwan showcasing to the world” into a new stage of “global buyers sourcing in Taiwan.” With global medical demand on the rise, governments, hospitals, and medical device distributors are arriving in Taiwan with detailed procurement lists and regulatory requirements, positioning Taiwan as the most efficient B2B platform for global medical technology procurement.

Statistics show that this year, 650 exhibiting organizations are using a total of 2,100 booths, alongside 40 overseas delegations comprising 31 international industry associations and nine hospital organizations, totaling 320 members and 130 hospital representatives. The scale represents a new high, reflecting the expo’s status as the premier platform for global buyers to source supply chains and innovative solutions.

European organizations such as the European Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (representing 70% of Europe’s pharmaceutical market) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurs (including 170 members such as BNT) are visiting to explore partnerships in CDMO (contract development and manufacturing), high-demand APIs, and clinical collaborations. Meanwhile, delegations from the United States, the Americas, and Africa are focusing on high-tech medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, and digital health systems.

Notably, the most symbolic collaboration this year involves the Czech Health Technology Agency securing an EU-funded Africa medical aid procurement plan worth €200 million. They plan to work with Healthcare Expo Taiwan to screen suppliers for essential areas including primary care, maternal and child health, and mobile diagnostics.

Major international players such as the UAE’s largest medical group M42, Malaysia’s leading pharmaceutical distributor Pharmaniaga, century-old multinational distributor DKSH, and South Africa’s Thogwa Medicals will use the Healthcare Business Matchmaking platform to connect with Taiwanese companies in real time. Buyers can schedule online meetings based on market, regulatory, and product requirements, while Taiwanese companies can immediately receive orders and initiate business collaborations.

Allen Wu emphasized that the expo has been upgraded from a “showcase platform” to a “global procurement matchmaking center,” where Taiwanese companies no longer need to actively promote themselves but can attract global orders based on their capabilities. Industry experts anticipate that this year’s event will set new records in procurement value and international collaborations, heralding a new era for Taiwan’s medical technology exports.
