Formosa Pharmaceuticals to Relaunch Ophthalmic New Drug BICOVI in the US; Targets 50% Market Share

Formosa Pharmaceuticals (台新藥) announced at its February 23rd investor conference that its ophthalmic drug APP13007 (US brand name: BICOVI) is slated for a US relaunch in H1 2026 under its new commercial partner, Harrow.

  • Three-Phase Commercial Strategy:
    1. Precision Replacement: Targeting high-requirement physicians and patients.
    2. Gradual Expansion: Leveraging the convenience of "half-dosage" frequency (twice daily vs. four times) to grow brand share.
    3. Benchmarking: Establishing leadership in branded steroids before challenging the broader generic market. The goal is to capture >50% of the branded US steroid eye drop market within three years.
  • Financial Catalysts: The relaunch triggers a milestone payment to TaiGen, followed by tiered royalties. Revenue is expected to begin reflecting in Q2 2026.
  • Global Footprint: With 12 partners covering 80 markets, TaiGen expects additional approvals in Canada, Taiwan, and Switzerland this year, with registrations pending in South Korea, South Africa, and the Middle East.
