Locus Cell’s large-scale CDMO facility for cell therapy in Zhubei is nearing completion and gearing up for production. The company announced yesterday (17th) that the construction of the Zhubei plant, built with an investment exceeding NT$900 million, will be completed in August this year. An additional NT$547 million will be invested in interior construction, with the goal of officially beginning production in the first quarter of next year.

The Zhubei facility spans over 6,000 ping and complies with PIC/S GMP standards. It will house 24 advanced biosafety cell operation rooms, all equipped with state-of-the-art digital and AI-driven automated manufacturing technologies, making it the largest cell therapy CDMO plant in Asia. The plant will integrate Taiwan’s strengths in information technology, incorporating digitalization, intelligent systems, and automation to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance production efficiency. Once completed, the plant will seamlessly transition into mass production in coordination with the pilot facility in Xizhi.

Locus Cell stated that although the Zhubei plant is scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of next year, the company’s domestic and international order volume has already been booked through the end of 2025. At present, production services are being provided through the PIC/S GMP-certified pilot facility in Xizhi.
