Bora Pharmaceuticals announced on the 23rd that Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds successfully led a delegation to visit its manufacturing site in Maple Grove, Minnesota, as well as its U.S. pharmaceutical sales subsidiary, Upsher-Smith Laboratories. During the visit, the governor participated in a roundtable discussion and toured the facilities, focusing on the theme of “localizing pharmaceutical manufacturing” and regional supply chain integration in the U.S. Midwest.

Meanwhile, J.D. Mowery, President of Bora’s CDMO Business Unit, presented at the “Regional Collaboration – U.S.A.” forum during BIO Asia, sharing insights on “Taiwan's Pharmaceutical Industry’s Path to Success in the U.S. Market.” The presentation underscored Bora’s strategic footprint in the U.S. and helped kick off the week’s BIO Asia events.

This visit was part of Governor Reynolds’ domestic fact-finding mission. During the visit, she met with senior executives from Bora Group to discuss bringing pharmaceutical supply chains back to the U.S., strengthening Midwest supply chain integration, and collaborating to expand contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) operations.

Governor Kim Reynolds emphasized that Bora and Upsher-Smith’s ongoing investments in talent, innovation, and manufacturing infrastructure are closely aligned with Iowa’s strategy to develop high-value industries. She noted that regional cooperation and an expanded domestic supply chain not only improve drug accessibility but also stimulate job creation and economic growth.

Dennis Hall, Executive Vice President of Bora Pharmaceuticals, stated that the group is highly confident in U.S. manufacturing and remains committed to reinforcing its supply chain presence there. He added that Bora sees significant opportunities in investment, innovation, and partnerships across the country.

The discussions also spotlighted Bora’s robust manufacturing capabilities in the U.S. This message was reinforced at the BIO Asia pre-conference forum, where J.D. Mowery presented “Taiwan's Path to Success in the U.S. Pharmaceutical Market” to representatives from global pharmaceutical and biotech companies. To date, Bora has invested several hundred million U.S. dollars and continues to execute its capital expenditure plan to enhance manufacturing capabilities.

During the meeting with the governor, senior executives from Upsher-Smith highlighted the company’s portfolio of specialty branded drugs, explaining its strategic expansion from generics into rare disease treatments and specialty medications. They expressed Upsher-Smith’s commitment to improving patient care through the delivery of high-quality medicines.
