ACRO Biomedical has officially signed a licensing agreement with Vietnam’s CT Group to market its regenerative corneal implant—the “Apis Cor Collagen Corneal Matrix”—across ASEAN countries. The product has already received medical device certification from Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and has been gaining momentum internationally. Following a prior agreement with Australia’s Oculus Biomed Pty Ltd (OBM) to conduct clinical trials, obtain regulatory approval, and commercialize the product, this new partnership with CT Group not only boosts ACRO Biomedical’s revenue but also showcases Taiwan’s regenerative medicine capabilities while offering new hope to patients in Southeast Asia.
Dr. Dar-Jen Hsieh, Chairman of ACRO Biomedical, stated that the strategic alliance with CT Group further validates the company’s regenerative medicine technology as being of international caliber. Although a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) had already been signed between the two parties, the official agreement was finalized during a product launch event for the corneal matrix implant. CT Group Chairman Tran Kim Chung personally led a delegation to the event, where both sides reached a consensus on the details of the licensing arrangement. The collaboration aims to deliver a win-win outcome for ACRO Biomedical, CT Group, and patients alike.
Dr. Hsieh explained that the corneal implant is the world’s first derived from porcine corneal tissue using supercritical carbon dioxide decellularization technology. This method thoroughly eliminates residual biological material from the donor tissue, minimizing the risk of rejection or adverse reactions in recipients. With exceptional biocompatibility, the implant supports the regeneration of corneal connective tissue, ultimately forming a nearly complete cornea. The partnership with CT Group reflects the significant unmet need for such advanced solutions across ASEAN nations.
Currently, an estimated 9 million people in ASEAN suffer from vision-related conditions, with corneal damage being the most common and a critical issue due to the lack of local biomedical solutions. CT Group’s enthusiasm in securing licensing rights stems from the urgent demand in the region. With ACRO Biomedical’s mature regenerative technology, the alliance promises to restore vision and transform countless lives. Dr. Hsieh expressed confidence that this powerful collaboration will open up a “new vision” for the future.
In conclusion, Dr. Hsieh emphasized that regenerative medicine is poised to become a major pillar of the future biomedical industry. As a pioneer in the field, ACRO Biomedical is committed to further advancing research on the regeneration of human tissues and organs, moving society closer to a new era of holistic health and well-being.
