As Taiwan enters a super-aged society, the silver economy is booming with unprecedented business opportunities. The latest selection of the “Top 10 Senior-Friendly Technology Products” has been unveiled, highlighting innovative solutions such as National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch’s Smart Indoor Positioning System, UGYM Technology’s Pain Relief Electrotherapy Device, imedtac’s Automated Bathing Machine, and CTBC Bank’s Senior-Friendly ATM with AI-powered fraud prevention. Industry experts believe these innovations not only showcase Taiwan’s strong R&D capabilities but also demonstrate international competitiveness, serving as important indicators for investment and industrial transformation.
The Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry emphasized that with population aging accelerating, the silver economy is becoming a key driver of Taiwan’s future industrial growth. This year’s Senior Health Industry Expo recognized the “Top 10 Senior-Friendly Technologies, Products, and Services,” covering healthcare, smart care, home services, assistive devices, finance, and local governance. These achievements are expected to create new opportunities for Taiwan’s silver economy.
In medical applications, NTU Hospital Yunlin Branch introduced its Smart Indoor Positioning System, which achieved a 96.5% satisfaction rate among seniors in emergency response scenarios. The NTU Cancer Center developed a Fall Detection System using millimeter-wave radar and AI analysis, capable of issuing alerts within 90 seconds of a fall and automatically linking to nursing support.
Focusing on elderly daily care, the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre developed a Smart Oral Care System, certified by the TFDA, featuring 3-second image capture, three sizes of U-shaped toothbrushes, and customized toothpaste, delivering an 83% improvement rate. New models are also emerging in food and nutrition services. UMAMI LIFE launched its home-delivered senior meal service, “God of the Kitchen at Home,” which leverages community kitchens and cooperative delivery. To date, it has supported 243 small kitchens, increasing their average annual income by NT$44,000, while delivering 48,000 meals and serving more than 3,000 seniors.
In public health governance, the Tainan City Health Bureau developed the “Shared Care Cloud Smart Health Governance Platform,” integrating AI with LINE interfaces.
