Cardio Ring, a U.S.-based medtech company founded by a Taiwanese team in Silicon Valley, has successfully developed ArteVu, an innovative blood pressure monitoring device capable of continuous measurement without the need for a cuff. On July 30, 2025, ArteVu received U.S. FDA clearance, marking another milestone for Taiwan’s smart healthcare technology on the global stage.
ArteVu integrates Cardio Ring’s proprietary high-sensitivity semiconductor tactile sensing technology and its internationally patented arterial waveform analysis algorithm, enabling continuous cuffless blood pressure monitoring. This breakthrough addresses the inconvenience and interruptions associated with traditional blood pressure measurement. In Taiwan, ArteVu has already obtained Class II medical device clearance from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and has undergone clinical trials at multiple medical centers. Results confirmed that ArteVu’s readings are highly consistent with arterial catheter measurements and meet international ISO standards for blood pressure monitoring.
Its clinical applications span operating rooms, intensive care units, dialysis centers, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, emergency departments, and home care, delivering more timely, comfortable, and accurate blood pressure management solutions. Future applications will extend to chronic disease management, long-term care facilities, and home health monitoring. With FDA approval in hand, Cardio Ring plans to actively expand into the U.S. and Japanese markets as part of its global strategy.
The development of ArteVu was strongly supported by Inventec Group Chairman Yeh Kuo-I, whose personal commitment and the group’s subsidiary, Inventec Appliances Corp., provided both investment and long-term manufacturing and technical support. Clinical and evidence-based collaborations with Cathay General Hospital, alongside investment and strategic resources from Cathay Venture, laid a solid foundation for ArteVu’s success in development and regulatory clearance.
Cardio Ring stated:
“We believe blood pressure should not just be a number, but a vital sign that can be continuously interpreted and proactively managed. For many critically ill or high-risk patients, blood pressure fluctuations can occur within minutes. Traditional intermittent measurements often fail to capture these critical changes in real time, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. ArteVu represents a major breakthrough—not only for intensive and surgical care in hospitals, but also as a key foundation for home care and telemedicine. It is an important step in bridging technology and healthcare, transforming blood pressure monitoring from isolated ‘points’ into continuous ‘lines,’ enabling real-time tracking of patient conditions and providing more reliable and immediate clinical support.”
Cardio Ring emphasized it will continue driving the transformation of healthcare through “smart sensing and data-driven care,” with the goal of leveraging Taiwan’s innovation to deliver better quality care and improved health outcomes for patients worldwide.
