Healthy Ageing Tech Show Opens, Kaohsiung Pavilion Showcases AI Smart City for Aging-in-Place
2025-09-02

The 2025 Healthy Ageing Tech Show opened on August 8 at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 and runs through August 10. The Kaohsiung City Government, together with its Health, Social Affairs, Education, Sports Development, Transportation, Public Works, Labor, and Tourism bureaus, collaborated with industry partners to set up the Kaohsiung Pavilion under the theme “Ageless Enjoyment, Happy Kaohsiung.” The pavilion features smart healthcare, social care, sports and wellness, and lifelong learning for seniors, demonstrating how technology can accompany older adults toward healthy aging.

According to the Kaohsiung Department of Health, as of June this year, the proportion of residents aged 65 and above has reached 20.3%, officially making Kaohsiung a “super-aged society.” The city aims to break the stereotype that aging equals decline, instead promoting a model of healthy and smart living while building an age-friendly and inclusive city for all generations.

This year’s Kaohsiung Pavilion highlights cover smart healthcare, social care, sports health, lifelong learning, barrier-free transportation, job redesign, sustainable architecture, and urban tourism. On-site activities include pedal-powered spin bikes that generate electricity, senior-friendly digital interactive games, an AI-powered fitness program for older adults, as well as quiz games with gifts and other interactive events.

In response to the growing trend of AI applications, the pavilion also features multiple scenario simulations and interactive devices to integrate digital services into daily life and community use, reducing inconveniences for the elderly. These include the Department of Health’s Healthy Kaohsiung 4.0 and the Silver Power AI Fitness & Wellness Club, which apply generative AI to elderly care and AI-guided exercise.

Visitors can also experience free activities such as motion-sensing games developed by the Education Bureau, the Sports Development Bureau’s “Energy Co-Generation” concept where green power spin bikes allow users to exercise while generating electricity, and the Public Works Bureau’s Kaohsiung House 4.0 smart housing, designed for climate resilience and suitability across all age groups.
