UnicoCell Biomed announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Japan-based New Cell Bio Co., Ltd. (NCB) to jointly enter the South Korean regenerative medicine market, focusing on the promotion of stem cell and exosome-related products.
The company noted that South Korea’s stem cell and exosome industries are rapidly growing. By combining NCB’s local expertise and medical network resources, UnicoCell aims to bring Taiwan’s stem cell and exosome products into the South Korean market. Headquartered in Chuo, Tokyo, NCB also operates a branch in Busan, South Korea. The company specializes in regenerative medicine, has established collaborations with the prestigious Korea University Hospital, and is recognized by the Japan Society for Regenerative Medicine, giving it strong academic credentials and clinical resources in the field.
UnicoCell has been deeply engaged in allogeneic stem cell regenerative medicine. Its clinical trials of ELIXCYTER for the treatment of degenerative arthritis and chronic kidney disease are progressing ahead of domestic peers. It operates Taiwan’s only allogeneic cell bank registered with the U.S. FDA Master File, and has received approval from Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare for its PIC/S GMP pilot plant. Leveraging its proprietary large-scale cell preparation technology, the company provides customized CDMO services to multiple medical institutions and biotech firms.
In the exosome field, UnicoCell has been exporting high-concentration stem cell secretome-derived exosome products to Japan since 2018, building extensive international experience. Domestically, it has also formed a strategic alliance with Taiwan’s largest hair salon chain, MANDOO Salon, to expand into the haircare market.
