Adimmune’s subsidiary Enimmune Corp. announced on October 7 that it has signed an exclusive sales agreement with ETANA, Indonesia’s largest private biopharmaceutical company, for its enterovirus vaccine, further strengthening its footprint in the ASEAN market. Enimmune stated that both parties will jointly submit regulatory filings in Indonesia and deepen their presence in the Indonesian and Halal-certified vaccine markets.
Enimmune noted that regulatory submissions for its enterovirus vaccine were filed in Vietnam in July and Thailand in August this year. The newly signed agreement with ETANA—a leading local vaccine and biopharmaceutical company with extensive sales channels and manufacturing capacity—assigns ETANA responsibility for regulatory submission and post-market sales in Indonesia. Enimmune expects to file for product registration in Indonesia next year and is currently engaging in strategic discussions with ETANA regarding post-approval commercialization and market rollout.
According to Enimmune General Manager Dr. Che-Wei Chang, Indonesia, with a population exceeding 270 million, is the world’s fourth most populous nation and the largest market in ASEAN, with approximately 4.5 million newborns each year. Driven by public health needs and the prevalence of enterovirus infections, the Indonesian government has shown increasing interest in introducing the vaccine. Moreover, with over 86% of Indonesia’s population being Muslim, ETANA’s Halal-certified biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility provides a significant advantage, as it has extensive experience producing vaccines that meet Halal requirements.
The enterovirus vaccine, manufactured at Adimmune’s Tanzi plant in Taiwan, utilizes an advanced bioreactor production process that ensures high-quality and scalable output. The production scale-up has been approved by Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), maintaining an annual production capacity of at least one million doses, ensuring a stable supply to meet Southeast Asia’s market demand.
Following regulatory submissions in Vietnam and Thailand, Enimmune’s entry into Indonesia marks another milestone in its ASEAN expansion. The company emphasized that by carefully selecting local partners, it aims to accelerate the vaccine’s introduction across Southeast Asia. The enterovirus vaccine has successfully completed a Phase III multicenter clinical trial, demonstrating a vaccine efficacy (VE) of 99.21%, meeting key indicators for protection and immune durability. Enimmune will continue advancing its market development efforts across Southeast Asia and globally.
