Primo Biotechnology announced on the 28th that it has formally signed a collaboration agreement with GE Healthcare to jointly develop new radiopharmaceutical drugs. The partnership will cover licensing, research and development, technology transfer, manufacturing, and sales, aiming to drive innovation and clinical application of radiopharmaceuticals. Under the agreement, GE Healthcare’s new radiopharmaceuticals will be preferentially licensed to Primo for development, manufacturing, and sales in Taiwan, while jointly developed drugs will be prioritized for GE Healthcare’s customers, providing the Taiwanese healthcare system with more innovative treatment options.
This collaboration stems from close interactions between the two companies since 2023. At that time, Primo and GE Healthcare jointly introduced advanced international radiopharmaceutical equipment and established a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in compliance with PIC/S GMP standards. Uno Zetterberg, Global Marketing Director of GE Healthcare’s Accelerator and Nuclear Medicine Radiopharmaceutical Division, personally visited Taiwan to sign a memorandum of understanding with Primo, laying the foundation for long-term cooperation in automated radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and professional talent exchange.
As an emerging leader in radiopharmaceutical R&D in Taiwan, Primo Biotechnology holds multiple core patents and automated synthesis technologies, has obtained dual international certifications (PIC/S GMP and GDP), and holds an FDG drug license. The company is well-versed in both local and international regulations, ensuring product quality and personnel safety. Primo continues to introduce therapeutic radioactive isotopes and collaborates with multiple medical institutions on clinical trials, providing a one-stop service from R&D to commercial manufacturing.
GE Healthcare holds a global leadership position in medical imaging and radiopharmaceuticals, with a focus on cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and estrogen receptor imaging for breast cancer. Through this partnership with Primo, GE Healthcare will integrate its equipment, drugs, and AI solutions to provide more comprehensive medical services.
The collaboration marks a new milestone for Taiwan in radiopharmaceutical innovation and international partnership. It is expected to accelerate the adoption of precision medicine and nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapeutics, giving patients earlier access to next-generation radioligand theranostics, and advancing Taiwan’s healthcare onto the international stage.
