Alvogen, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lotus Pharmaceutical, has entered into a global licensing agreement with Solaxa, a social benefit biotech focused on rare neurological diseases, for SLX-100.

  • Indication: The drug targets Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 27B (SCA27B), a rare genetic disorder identified in 2023 caused by GAA repeat expansions in the FGF14 gene. There are currently no FDA-approved treatments for SCA27B.
  • Deal Structure: The total transaction value reaches up to $95 million, including an upfront payment to support registrational studies and subsequent developmental and sales milestones. Solaxa is also eligible for double-digit royalties on net sales.
  • Commercialization: Solaxa plans to initiate registrational trials in mid-2026, aiming for an NDA submission in 2027. Alvogen’s CNS-focused subsidiary, Almatica, will lead the commercial launch in the United States, leveraging its established infrastructure in neurology.
