PharmaEssentia Reports Near 50% YoY Revenue Growth in January
2026-05-22

Driven by the robust global sales of Ropeginterferon alfa-2b (Ropeg), its flagship therapy for rare blood cancers, PharmaEssentia announced January revenue of NT$1.58 billion. This figure marks the second-highest monthly revenue in the company’s history, representing a 49.82% year-over-year (YoY) increase.

  • Market Dynamics: Revenue was influenced by the annual reset of patient deductibles in the U.S. insurance system and a slight upward adjustment in the U.S. list price for Ropeg. The latter led to a surge in demand in December 2024, yet January 2025 performance remained exceptionally strong.
  • Expansion of Indications: While Ropeg has a solid foundation in Polycythemia Vera (PV), the company is preparing for the global launch of its Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) indication. Regulatory approvals in Taiwan, China, and Japan are expected in H1 2026. The U.S. FDA has set a Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) goal date of August 30, 2026, for the ET indication.
  • Clinical Endorsement: The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recently updated its guidelines to include Ropeg as a Category 1 preferred therapy for high-risk ET patients who are refractory or intolerant to hydroxyurea.
  • Strategic Infrastructure: The company is investing US$46 million to establish a manufacturing plant in Puerto Rico, creating a dual-base production model (Taiwan and U.S.) to meet rising global demand.
