V5 med (倍智醫電) Partners with Taichung Veterans General Hospital to Introduce Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging AI; Formally Files for Self-Pay Reimbursement Codes
2026-06-24

As commercial demand for clinical medical imaging AI accelerates, V5 med (倍智醫電)—the specialized medical artificial intelligence subsidiary of semiconductor optical inspection leader V5 Technologies (倍利科技)—announced on May 28, 2026, the formal submission of a self-pay reimbursement code application for its "TCVGH-V5 med Coronary Artery Imaging Computer-Aided Detection System" (榮智冠狀動脈影像輔助判讀系統). Developed in close collaboration with Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH), the regulatory filing marks the formal extension of V5 med’s AI diagnostics into advanced cardiovascular imaging and represents a milestone in TCVGH's translational medicine initiatives.

Single-Scan Dual Cardio-Pulmonary Screening: Under the leadership of TCVGH’s Department of Radiology Director Dr. Chen Wen-hsien and Division Chief Dr. Liu Ming-cheng, clinical radiology teams fed extensive historical case data into V5 med’s neural networks. The resulting system automatically extracts Coronary Artery Calcification (CAC) metrics directly from standard lung-cancer low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans, delivering precise risk stratification within tens of seconds. This breakthrough allows a single diagnostic procedure to serve as a dual cardio-pulmonary assessment, bypassing the need for separate cardiac scans or additional patient radiation exposure.

Modularization and Market Penetration Strategy: TCVGH Superintendent Dr. Fu Yun-ching emphasized that translating clinical experience into standardized AI algorithms optimizes hospital throughput and enables the early detection of asymptomatic coronary artery disease. V5 med’s baseline lung cancer AI is already deployed across approximately 60 medical centers in Taiwan. Leveraging this institutional footprint, the company is modularizing the new coronary system to maximize revenue per hospital site. Concurrently, V5 med is executing a global market entry strategy to introduce its multi-AI modular suite into Southeast Asian and United States clinical networks.
