Formosa Pharmaceuticals signed an exclusive licensing agreement on March 23 with Arrotex Pharmaceuticals, Australia’s largest pharmaceutical company, for its post-operative ophthalmic drug APP13007 (Clobetasol propionate ophthalmic suspension 0.05%).

• Market Dominance: Arrotex supplies one-third of Australia’s PBS prescriptions and accounts for 41% of the country’s total pharmaceutical sales volume. The deal includes upfront payments, regulatory/sales milestones, and royalties.
• Product Profile: Developed using the proprietary APNT nanoparticle platform, APP13007 was approved by the U.S. FDA in 2024. It offers a simple BID (twice-daily) regimen for 14 days. Clinical surveys show its key advantages are rapid pain relief (80% of patients pain-free within 4 days) and a low adverse event rate (<2%).
• Strategic Fit: CEO Erick Co highlighted Arrotex’s unparalleled pharmacy network. Arrotex CEO Matt Zeller noted the drug fits their ambition to provide meaningful innovation to the ~250,000 annual cataract surgery patients in the region.
