Acer Medical’s “VeriOsteo OP” Obtains Regulatory Approval in Singapore
2025-07-15

Acer Medical, the smart healthcare subsidiary of Acer Group, continues to expand its footprint in Southeast Asia. On July 3, the company announced that its AI-assisted diagnostic software for bone density abnormalities, VeriOsteo OP, has officially received marketing authorization from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA).

Acer Medical Chairman Dr. Allen Lien stated that Singapore is a benchmark market in Southeast Asia for digital health and medical regulations. Gaining approval from the local regulatory authority is not only a strong validation of Acer Medical’s technology, but also a significant milestone for VeriOsteo OP in its journey toward international markets. The company also looks forward to deepening collaborations with hospitals and health screening centers in Singapore, leveraging AI to help more people take control of their health.

According to the Singapore Ministry of Health, the burden of medical conditions related to fractures and osteoporosis has been steadily increasing with the country's aging population. As of 2024, the population aged 65 and over in Singapore has reached nearly one million—around 17.6% of the total population—and is projected to surpass 25% by 2030. In response, the Singaporean government is actively promoting policies on osteoporosis prevention and healthy aging. Acer Medical’s regulatory approval from the HSA is expected to facilitate the introduction of more accessible, rapid, and non-invasive osteoporosis risk assessment methods, thereby strengthening the nation’s preventive healthcare capabilities.

VeriOsteo OP is Taiwan’s first smart medical device that uses chest X-rays to screen for bone density abnormalities. With just a single chest X-ray image, the software assists medical professionals in determining whether a patient has abnormal bone density, enabling more accurate assessment of osteoporosis risk.

The software not only aids in early detection of osteoporosis risk but is also well-suited for use in health checkups, primary care settings, and long-term care facilities. It provides healthcare professionals with a convenient diagnostic aid, while also delivering appropriate health education to patients—effectively supporting medical institutions in achieving faster and more widespread management of bone health.
