
The second “Healthy Ageing Tech Show” opened on the 8th at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 under the theme “Rejuvenation.” The three-day event attracted more than 350 exhibitors and 1,200 booths, highlighting health promotion, smart technology, and age-friendly environments in response to an ageing society. The National Taiwan University (NTU) Healthcare System and the Taipei Veterans General Hospital (Taipei VGH) System both joined the showcase, presenting their results and innovations in elderly care and smart healthcare.
NTU Hospital Deputy Superintendent Kuo-Chin Huang stated that the NTU Healthcare System is building a people-centered smart health model through cross-disciplinary integration and innovative technologies, aiming to realize the vision of healthy, safe, and localized ageing in place. NTU Hospital presented its award-winning “Fourth-Generation Real-Time Remote Care Service,” which integrates AI and physiological sensors to provide 24/7 home health monitoring, reducing emergency and hospitalization risks. Its in-development “AI Sarcopenia Assessment Software” can instantly analyze CT images to support personalized interventions, while the “Active Ageing Rehabilitation at Home” system uses the LINE platform to ensure continuous at-home rehabilitation for the elderly.
The NTU Cancer Center showcased “AI-Assisted LDCT Lung Cancer Screening” and a millimeter-wave “Fall Detection System.” NTU Hsinchu Branch introduced its “iSee GenAI Educator” platform, promoting multilingual health education, alongside mixed-reality tools and the AI social robot Kebbi Air S to enhance communication and interaction quality for older adults.
NTU Jinshan Branch featured mobile medical services and in-home dental and ultrasound care to bridge gaps in rural healthcare resources. NTU Yunlin Branch utilized Bluetooth positioning to enhance inpatient safety while integrating a smart community platform with sarcopenia interactive cards. NTU Bei-Hu Branch introduced smart insoles and an AI resource analysis system to digitalize community care and enable personalized interventions.
Taipei VGH participated together with its Taichung, Kaohsiung, Yuli, and Tainan branches, as well as the Dao-Xiang Daycare Center, focusing on medical care, long-term care, and smart technology applications. Taipei VGH showcased its “Smart Neuro-Emotional Imaging Technology,” which transforms abstract psychological states into objective clinical data, and its “Guardian Platform,” which links real-time cross-disciplinary care to create integrated medical and eldercare services. Yuli Branch presented smart care solutions for rural areas to strengthen resource allocation and care quality.
Taichung VGH displayed a smart rehabilitation wheelchair, nursing robot Vida, and AI carotid artery analysis technology. Kaohsiung VGH, in collaboration with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and the city government, unveiled the “Harmony in Care Platform,” which integrates real-time physiological data with cross-sector resources, earning the 2024 Presidential Hackathon Excellence Award.
