Biotech startup Syncell announced on the 18th that it has signed a strategic co-marketing partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in scientific services, to integrate its Microscoop spatial protein purification technology with Thermo Fisher’s Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometry series. The collaboration will deliver a next-generation subcellular high-resolution spatial proteomics solution.
According to Syncell, its globally pioneering Microscoop Mint system enables real-time purification of proteins from specific subcellular regions under microscopic guidance, achieving nanometer-scale precision. The Orbitrap Astral series, meanwhile, offers unmatched sensitivity and acquisition speed, enabling deeper and more accurate protein composition and structural analysis. Commenting on hands-on results, Luisa Iruela-Arispe, Chair of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, said: “By combining Microscoop’s nanometer-scale spatial resolution with Astral’s ultra-sensitive detection power, we can uncover spatial and chemical details previously beyond reach, breaking through limitations in studying cell signaling pathways.”
This collaboration not only enhances data acquisition speed and depth of protein analysis but also broadens the scope of spatial proteomics research. With its high-resolution, high-sensitivity integrated platform, researchers can map the precise localization and distribution of proteins in tissues and cells without predefining targets. The platform holds wide-ranging applications in oncology, neuroscience, immunology, and cell biology, and shows strong potential to expand into drug development, opening new avenues for uncovering disease mechanisms and developing novel therapies.
Syncell founder and CEO Jung-Chi Liao remarked: “This collaboration further strengthens our mission to advance the accessibility of high-resolution, unbiased spatial proteomics. The synergy between Microscoop’s spatial purification technology and the Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometry series is setting a new gold standard for proteomics research at the cellular and subcellular levels.”
