Heron Neutron Medical announced on the 26th that it will sign a cooperation agreement with Nanjing BenQ Hospital, part of the Qisda Group, marking its first overseas deployment of an Accelerator-Based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (AB-BNCT) Center. The deal, valued at US$55 million (approximately NT$1.68 billion), will see both parties jointly invest in building the BNCT facility at Nanjing BenQ Hospital, with the aim of further advancing the clinical potential of BNCT applications.
According to the cooperation plan, Nanjing BenQ Hospital will provide a suitable site and related infrastructure investments, while Heron Neutron Medical will design the AB-BNCT center based on site conditions. The design will cover deployment of core equipment, radiation shielding, and the full AB-BNCT system setup to meet clinical requirements. The collaboration goes beyond equipment installation to include clinical applications, drug partnerships, and talent training, with the goal of establishing a deeper regional medical cooperation network.
Heron Neutron Medical stated that this partnership with Qisda Group represents an extension of its previous BNCT project experience, complementing its existing collaborations with Taipei Veterans General Hospital and China Medical University Hospital, while striving to build a multi-site, resource-sharing BNCT industry–academia platform.
Qisda Group noted that BNCT represents an important new frontier in oncology treatment. This cooperation will accelerate BenQ Hospitals’ clinical research and applications in BNCT, providing patients with more therapeutic options and greater hope.
