TFBS Bioscience Secures Double Win: Virus Manufacturing Order from Korea’s artiCure and Technology Partnership with Japan’s U-medico
2025-09-11

TFBS Bioscience announced on the 27th that it has achieved a double milestone—securing a virus production order from Korea’s artiCure and establishing a strategic technology partnership with Japan’s U-medico Inc. to expand its presence in the Japanese genetic testing market.

Chairman and CEO Thomas Yuan stated that these two collaborations mark significant progress in expanding TFBS Bioscience’s biopharmaceutical testing and viral vector manufacturing services from Japan into Korea, further strengthening its influence in the Asia-Pacific region.

artiCure’s multi-modal cancer gene therapy platform utilizes retroviral vectors to deliver multiple therapeutic genes across entire tumor tissues, characterized by high delivery efficiency, safety, and tolerance. TFBS Bioscience will provide GMP-grade virus manufacturing and testing services to support artiCure in advancing its product pipeline into clinical trials and expanding into the global market. artiCure also becomes TFBS Bioscience’s first virus CDMO client in Korea, with both sides jointly targeting the country’s growing cell and gene therapy market.

Beyond Korea, TFBS Bioscience has also forged a strategic partnership with Japan’s U-medico Inc., a company specializing in advanced analytical technologies developed at Osaka University. U-medico is recognized as a leader in virus detection technology in Japan. Together, the two companies will launch an integrated one-stop testing service covering GMP quality control (QC) for viral vectors and cell-based products.

The collaboration will combine U-medico’s expertise in high-precision analytical technologies—such as analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) and mass photometry—with TFBS Bioscience’s capabilities in method-driven testing and GMP viral vector manufacturing. This partnership aims to provide biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the Asia-Pacific region with faster, more accurate, and regulation-compliant one-stop testing solutions.

Yuan emphasized that these two partnerships not only reinforce TFBS Bioscience’s leadership in the viral vector CDMO and CRO testing markets but also advance the overall quality and development of the cell and gene therapy industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
