Lotus Pharmaceuticals Signs Licensing and Supply Agreement with Adalvo for GLP-1 Generic Injectable
2025-11-14

Lotus Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced on the 3rd that it has signed a licensing and supply agreement with Adalvo, under which the company will seek approval and commercialize Semaglutide injection—the generic version of Wegovy and Ozempic 2mg—for weight management and diabetes in multiple Asian markets, including South Korea and Taiwan.

Under the agreement, Lotus obtained exclusive rights to register and market the generic version of Wegovy in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. The company plans to initiate regulatory filings in these markets, aiming for early launches to become the first-to-market generic in each territory.

Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, represents one of the most significant innovations in obesity treatment and is also widely prescribed for type 2 diabetes. It has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar therapeutic category and remains one of the fastest-growing drugs globally.

Petar Vazharov, Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Pharmaceutical, stated:
“Lotus has already established a leadership position in South Korea’s obesity treatment market with Qsymia, and the addition of Semaglutide will further strengthen our presence. At the same time, we are deepening our commitment to patients—not only in South Korea but across other Asian markets—by bringing innovative and affordable treatment options. This aligns with our strategic focus on accelerating patient access to high-quality therapies and continuously setting new benchmarks in obesity and diabetes care across Asia.”
