Hon Hai Precision Industry announced on the 23rd that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) to deepen collaboration in three key areas: clinical validation, development of AI multimodal medical models, and deployment of smart hospital solutions. This partnership leverages Hon Hai’s expertise in AI, cloud computing, and automation, combined with TVGH’s rich clinical data and research capabilities. Hon Hai also pledged NT$300 million over three years to support the collaborative projects, aiming to establish a new benchmark for AI-driven precision medicine and smart hospitals with a distinctly Taiwanese approach.
Yang-Wei Liu, Chairman of Hon Hai, stated that TVGH possesses strong clinical and research capabilities, while Hon Hai has transformed into a leader in AI smart platforms and solutions. “This collaboration combines medical depth with technological breadth, opening new possibilities for smart healthcare in Taiwan,” he said.
The partnership will focus on three main areas: smart hospital automation, AI multimodal medical model development, and implementation of home-based healthcare. The strategy centers on three core dimensions—Dangerous, Repetitive, and Value—to ensure technology addresses real clinical pain points and delivers tangible clinical value.
In the Dangerous dimension, the goal is to achieve smart hospital automation. Automated dispensing robots for chemotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals will be introduced to create a safer working environment for pharmacists. Additionally, the TLA laboratory automation management system will streamline the handling of blood, medications, and waste throughout the entire process, enhancing patient safety and operational efficiency.
In the Repetitive dimension, the focus is on intelligent assistance and remote monitoring to reduce healthcare staff burden. With the deployment of AMR smart transport robots and exoskeleton devices, care-related workloads can be eased. Hon Hai’s CoDoctor health assessment devices and remote physiological monitoring platform will be integrated, allowing home-based care concepts to take root within TVGH, including applications in Long-Term Care 3.0 programs and veterans’ homes, thereby extending the depth and reach of clinical care.
For the Value dimension, the collaboration will develop multimodal AI medical models, building a uniquely Taiwanese AI healthcare ecosystem. Together, Hon Hai and TVGH will create the CoDoctor AI Multimodal Medical Model, combining TVGH’s clinical data in cancer therapy, neurology, cardiology, and radiology with Hon Hai’s AI computing platform and digital twin technology. The model will cover multiple modalities and initially target conditions such as dementia, prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and coronary artery disease, aiming to provide disease risk prediction, diagnostic support, and treatment assistance.
