Taiwan Biomaterial reported strong third-quarter results, driven by increased shipments of peripheral consumables for its stroke thrombectomy catheter system. Quarterly revenue more than doubled compared with the previous quarter, gross margin rose by three percentage points to 60.46%, and core business profit quadrupled, with earnings per share (EPS) reaching 0.68, exceeding the total profit for the first half of the year.
The company’s thrombectomy catheter system, developed in partnership with a U.S. collaborator, remains its primary revenue driver. The system includes pumps and peripheral consumables, applicable not only for ischemic stroke treatment but also for peripheral vascular procedures. The second-generation blood collection bottles, launched in Q2, have seen significant adoption and replacement rates after a season of promotion, driving rapid sales growth.
In August, Taiwan Biomaterial obtained an export-only medical device license for its catheter guidewire, which customers regard as a key component to complement the stroke product line. The product has received full specifications certification in a single approval, with the main specifications to be determined based on physician feedback. Small-scale clinical trial shipments are expected to start by year-end, with substantial revenue contributions anticipated next year, potentially becoming a new growth engine.
Q3 revenue reached NT$72.78 million, up 1.24 times quarter-over-quarter. Gross margin rose to 60.46%, three percentage points higher than the previous quarter. Operating profit surged 4.06 times to NT$25.55 million, with an operating margin of 35.11%, up 20 percentage points sequentially. Net profit after tax reached NT$28.64 million, with EPS of 0.68, turning the operation from a loss in the prior quarter (due to foreign exchange losses) to profit, marking the second-highest quarterly result on record.
Cumulative revenue for the first three quarters reached NT$174 million, up 158.1% year-on-year, with a gross margin of 63.57%. Operating profit totaled NT$61.03 million, net profit after tax NT$55.17 million, and EPS 1.31—demonstrating a turnaround from losses in the same period last year.
