Immunwork, founded by the "Father of Taiwan’s Antibodies," Dr. T.W. Chang, announced on December 8 the successful completion of a Phase 1/2a clinical trial in Australia for TE-8105, a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist for obesity treatment.
Trial Results and Technology:
- Safety Profile: The trial, conducted on non-diabetic overweight/obese participants, showed excellent tolerability. Less than 20% of subjects experienced mild-to-moderate gastrointestinal side effects, with zero severe adverse events.
- Clinical Efficacy: Multiple subjects achieved over 5% weight loss during the short-term trial. Notably, pre-diabetic participants saw their HbA1c levels return to the normal range.
- Proprietary Platform: TE-8105 utilizes Immunwork’s "Fatty Acid Bundle" platform, which conjugates modified GLP-1 with dual fatty acid chains. This extends the half-life significantly, allowing for a dosing regimen of once every one to two weeks.
- Future Roadmap: A Phase 2b trial is planned for the second half of 2026, focusing on optimal dosing and long-term metabolic outcomes in the global obesity market, which is projected to reach US$48.84 billion by 2030.
