2025-09-08 2024 Startup Fundraising Surpasses $100 Million, National Development Fund Aims for NT$150 Billion by 2027 The National Development Fund (NDF), leveraging an inter-ministerial integration platform, is actively coordinating with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), and other agencies to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Taiwan through three key strategies: “activating capital,” “expanding targets,” and “increasing success rates.” In 2024, Taiwan’s startup fundraising reached US$3.34 billion, surpassing the NT$100 billion mark, with NDF investments accounting for approximately 13.2% of total investment. The NDF aims to achieve NT$150 billion in startup fundraising by 2027.

2025-09-08 BioGend Therapeutics Advances OIF Toward Phase III; RevoCart Expands Hospital Adoption BioGend Therapeutics reported a significant increase in monthly procedures for its single-use autologous cartilage repair product, RevoCart, and achieved profitability in July. Looking ahead to the second half of the year, the company expects to receive the full report of its Osteogenic Inductive Factor (OIF) Phase II clinical data in August. Following this, BioGend plans to communicate with regulatory authorities regarding its Phase III clinical trial program, with an anticipated official launch in the second half of next year. Meanwhile, RevoCart is scheduled to be introduced to four major teaching hospitals in the latter half of the year. 2025-09-08 PharmaEssentia Targets Sequential Revenue Growth with Global Expansion of Ropeg in PV; Applies for NCCN Inclusion as Recommended Therapy PharmaEssentia’s novel therapy Ropeginterferon alfa-2b (Ropeg) for polycythemia vera (PV) continues to drive global sales growth, with second-quarter operating profit surging 147.57% year-over-year and earnings per share (EPS) reaching NT$2.50. At an investor conference on August 14, the management team noted that revenue is expected to keep rising quarter by quarter in the second half of the year. Ropeg is also advancing international market penetration, with regulatory approval in Mexico anticipated this year for PV, while simultaneously moving into the essential thrombocythemia (ET) market. 2025-09-08 HanchorBio Completes First Patient Dosing of Novel Drug HCB101 in Taiwan Head and Neck Cancer Trial, Advancing Clinical Development HanchorBio, a global clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced on August 13 that the first patient has been successfully dosed in an investigator-initiated trial (IIT) led by Dr. Chia-Hsun Hsieh of the Oncology Department at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The study is designed to evaluate HCB101 in combination with the immunotherapy pembrolizumab (Keytruda®) in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer who are unresponsive to platinum-based chemotherapy, with the primary focus on safety and preliminary efficacy.

2025-09-08 Pilatus Biosciences and Roche Enter Clinical Collaboration on PLT012: Targeting Next-Generation Combination Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Pilatus Biosciences, Inc., a biotech startup dedicated to developing novel metabolic checkpoint immunotherapies for liver and gastrointestinal cancers, today announced a clinical trial collaboration with Roche. Under the agreement, Roche will provide its anti–PD-L1 therapy Atezolizumab (Tecentriq®) to support Pilatus’ upcoming first-in-human Phase I trial evaluating the safety and tolerability of PLT012 in combination with Atezolizumab for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
