2025-08-07 Locus Cell's Order Book Extends Through End of 2025 Locus Cell’s large-scale CDMO facility for cell therapy in Zhubei is nearing completion and gearing up for production. The company announced yesterday (17th) that the construction of the Zhubei plant, built with an investment exceeding NT$900 million, will be completed in August this year. An additional NT$547 million will be invested in interior construction, with the goal of officially beginning production in the first quarter of next year.

Three patients with advanced solid tumors received a high intravenous dose of 18 mg/kg, and no dose-limiting toxicities or serious adverse events were observed during the monitoring period, demonstrating favorable tolerability. This result was unanimously approved by the Clinical Safety Review Committee at 8:00 PM Taiwan time on July 14, laying a critical foundation for further dose escalation and broader clinical application.

Senior Vice President Chang Chih-Jung noted that the number of contracts signed so far this year has already surpassed that of 2023. 2025-08-06 Senhwa Biosciences’ New Drug Program Sponsored by U.S. NCI: First Monotherapy Clinical Trial Begins Patient Enrollment Senhwa Biosciences announced yesterday (July 16) that its investigational new drug Pidnarulex (CX-5461) has been selected for a five-year cancer treatment program sponsored by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI). The first clinical trial under this program—evaluating Pidnarulex as a monotherapy for advanced solid tumors—has successfully enrolled its first patient at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. The NCI will fund the clinical trial with an estimated budget of USD 4.8 million, significantly reducing Senhwa's R&D burden and accelerating drug development.
2025-08-06 Acer’s Medical Spinoff Develops New AI Healthcare Application Acer Medical, a spinoff of Acer focusing on AI in healthcare, has achieved another milestone in its AI strategy. On July 16, the company announced a partnership with Japan’s Fujitsu to co-develop a new solution named “aiGait powered by UvanceAI.” The solution utilizes Fujitsu’s high-precision AI skeletal recognition technology to analyze patients’ physical movements and gait abnormalities, helping healthcare professionals detect early signs of dementia and Parkinson’s disease, thereby improving clinical diagnosis and intervention efficiency. Acer Medical plans to roll out the solution across elderly care institutions and primary clinics in Taiwan by the end of this year.
2025-08-06 Preventing Hospital-Acquired Infections: TYGH and NHRI Jointly Develop “Blind-Spot-Free” Hand Hygiene Monitoring System Hand hygiene is a key measure in preventing infections—especially critical within hospital settings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taoyuan General Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare (TYGH), experienced a major nosocomial outbreak that led to a 42-day shutdown. In response, the hospital collaborated with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanomedicine at the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) to develop the world’s first non-camera, de-identified hand hygiene monitoring system. This innovative system was validated in the hospital’s intensive care units (ICUs) with an accuracy rate of 70% and was featured on the cover of the international journal Global Challenges in December last year.
