2025-09-08 Taipei Veterans General Hospital Breaks Ground on Boron Neutron Capture Cancer Therapy Center; NT$1.2 Billion Investment to Complete in Two Years, Achieving Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) has officially commenced construction of its Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) Center, scheduled for completion and operation in 2027 (Year 116 of the Republic of China calendar). Once completed, TVGH will become one of the very few medical institutions worldwide equipped with both heavy-ion therapy and BNCT, offering comprehensive, state-of-the-art radiation oncology capabilities and elevating Taiwan to the forefront of global cancer radiation treatment, education, and research.

Barry Chlang, General Manager of the B Business Group, announced yesterday that the company has partnered with NOBEL Eyewear to launch the CoDoctor Eye fundus photography device. This device reduces the size of traditional 40-kg equipment to just 700 grams, successfully transforming a hospital-bound diagnostic tool into a portable digital health solution, marking a milestone for Foxconn’s smart healthcare products moving from R&D to practical application.
2025-09-08 Bora Pharmaceuticals’ SunWay Biotech Invests NT$650 Million in Wonders Company Ltd., Acquires 30% Stake and Board Seat SunWay Biotech, a subsidiary of Bora Pharmaceuticals Group, announced on the 19th that its board of directors has approved a strategic investment in Wonders Company Ltd. With a cash injection of NT$650 million, SunWay will acquire a 30% stake in the company, along with one board seat. The transaction is expected to close in September.

2025-09-08 Lotus Pharmaceutical’s Multiple Growth Engines in Asia and Export Markets Drive Second-Half Momentum; Exchange Rates Pressure Revenue but Margins Remain Intact Specialty generic drugmaker Lotus Pharmaceutical spokesperson Bjartur Shen said at the company’s earnings call on the 15th that exchange rate fluctuations will trim this year’s revenue growth target by about 2–3 percentage points, but margins will remain unaffected. The second-quarter gross margin decline reflected the timing of revenue recognition for the blood cancer drug Lenalidomide, while this year’s peak sales are expected in the fourth quarter. Exports of addiction treatment drugs are likely to rise in the second half due to supply disruptions among competitors. New products such as Nintedanib will begin contributing this year, with larger volumes expected next year. 2025-09-08 2024 Startup Fundraising Surpasses $100 Million, National Development Fund Aims for NT$150 Billion by 2027 The National Development Fund (NDF), leveraging an inter-ministerial integration platform, is actively coordinating with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), and other agencies to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Taiwan through three key strategies: “activating capital,” “expanding targets,” and “increasing success rates.” In 2024, Taiwan’s startup fundraising reached US$3.34 billion, surpassing the NT$100 billion mark, with NDF investments accounting for approximately 13.2% of total investment. The NDF aims to achieve NT$150 billion in startup fundraising by 2027.

However, 15 companies—including Bora Pharmaceuticals, Sunmax Biotechnology, PharmaEssentia, Visco Vision, and Ever Supreme Bio Technology—defied the trend and posted record-high profits for the same period. Notably, Bioray Biotech and 3D GLOBAL BIOTECH turned losses into gains.
