2025-07-29 Orient Europharma Introduces Photoimmunotherapy, Aiming for Taiwan Drug Approval Next Year Orient Europharma recently announced that it has secured the commercial rights to Rakuten Medical’s Alluminox platform-based photoimmunotherapy products in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This therapy was approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2021 and has since been used in nearly 1,000 treatment sessions. Currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials in Taiwan, Orient Europharma aims to obtain regulatory approval locally by next year.
2025-07-15 ApexBio Sees Q3 Revenue Dip, Eyes Rebound in Q4; CGM Clinical Submission Targeted by Year-End Medical device company ApexBio reported strong performance in the first half of the year, with revenue reaching NT$924 million for the January–May period, marking a 25.5% year-on-year increase. The company stated that due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding U.S. tariffs, it will temporarily shift focus toward the European and other markets. While third-quarter demand is expected to soften due to the summer holiday season, shipment momentum is projected to strengthen in the fourth quarter. As for its continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) product, ApexBio aims to complete development and submit a clinical trial application by the end of the year, with certification efforts to follow in 2025.

Pursues Asset-Light Global Expansion to Mitigate Tariff Risks In response to the growing trend of localized manufacturing triggered by Trump-era tariffs, TCI Co. announced the launch of its "asset-light global expansion strategy." In addition to its existing facilities in Taiwan, China, and the United States, the company has completed production line setup at its India plant this year and is actively evaluating the establishment of a liquid pouch production line in Europe. Further expansions into other regions are also planned to strengthen its global footprint.

On July 3, the company announced that its AI-assisted diagnostic software for bone density abnormalities, VeriOsteo OP, has officially received marketing authorization from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
2025-07-15 Taipei Veterans General Hospital Reaches 500 Cases of Carbon Ion Therapy, With Pancreatic Cancer Leading and Drawing Patients from Southeast Asia Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) has reached a significant milestone at its Heavy Particle Therapy Center, treating its 500th cancer patient. To mark the occasion, the medical team prepared a special farewell for the patient before his return home, celebrating the successful completion of his treatment. According to Dr. Yu-Ming Liu, Director of the Center for Heavy Particle and Radiation Oncology at TVGH, 90% of patients receiving this advanced therapy are from Taiwan, while the remaining 10% are international patients—primarily from Southeast Asia. Among the treated cancers, pancreatic cancer, known for its treatment difficulty, accounts for the largest share.
2025-07-15 Yoda Therapeutics-KY’s Phase II MSA Clinical Trial Approved by Japan’s PMDA, Targeting Completion by 2026 Yoda Therapeutics-KY announced on the 2nd that its subsidiary’s application for a Phase II clinical trial of YA-101, a new drug candidate for the treatment of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), has been approved by Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA). This follows previous approvals by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) last year.
2025-07-15 Lin BioScience’s Oral Drug LBS-008 for Late-Stage Dry AMD Completes Global Phase 3 Enrollment On July 2, Lin BioScience, through its subsidiary Belite Bio, Inc., announced that enrollment for the global Phase 3 clinical trial of its oral drug LBS-008 (Tinlarebant) for the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA), the advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD), has been completed. A total of 500 participants were enrolled across the United States, United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, mainland China, Taiwan, and Australia. Tinlarebant is positioned to become the world’s first oral treatment for GA, targeting a global market opportunity exceeding USD 20 billion.
2025-07-15 Inventec’s AI Empowers Wound Care at Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital, Enhancing Medical Quality and Efficiency On July 2, leading ODM manufacturer Inventec announced that its AI-powered medical device, “InSmart Wound Assessment Software” (TFDA Device License No. 008105), has been in service at Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital for nearly a year. The software has successfully supported the development of the hospital’s signature wound care program. From initial wound screening across the hospital to specialist nurse training applications, the software has reduced average wound assessment time by more than 40-fold. This year, Tzu Chi Medical Foundation plans to expand its use to long-term care centers, supporting home care and community-based specialist nurses in wound assessment—accelerating chronic disease care, alleviating workforce shortages, and improving long-term care quality.

Traditionally, diagnoses have relied primarily on behavioral assessments, and the medical community has long sought objective biological markers. Professor Chih-Chieh Yang from the Department of Psychiatry at Taipei Veterans General Hospital has led a team in developing an advanced “Smart Brain Imaging Platform” using cutting-edge medical AI technology. This platform assists in evaluating schizophrenia with an accuracy rate of 91.7%, earning a Gold Medal at the prestigious Edison Awards—known as the “Oscars of Innovation.”
2025-07-15 Ever Supreme Bio Technology Celebrates Dual Milestones: Record-High June Revenue and Phase 2 Trial of UMSC01 Set for Q3 Launch Ever Supreme Bio Technology has announced two major milestones. Thanks to sustained momentum in its cell therapy CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) orders, the company posted June consolidated revenue of NT$80.87 million, marking a 30% year-on-year growth and an 11% increase from the previous month—the highest June revenue in the company’s history. Cumulative revenue for the first half of the year has reached NT$398 million, and expectations for even stronger performance in the second half remain high, signaling continued positive growth momentum.
