2025-07-29 Protect Biotech Targets Emerging Stock Board Listing in Early August, Focusing on Three Innovative Pet Drug Categories for Global Market Expansion Protect Biotech, a company specializing in the development of new veterinary drugs, announced on July 7 that it has submitted its application earlier this month and aims to list on the Emerging Stock Board in early August. General Manager Haolin Sung stated that the company is focusing on three major categories of pet medications—cancer treatment, heart disease treatment, and autoimmune therapies. Its lead development product, PT001, which targets melanoma, is currently undergoing field trial application. Following its launch in Taiwan, the company plans to expand into international markets.

Recently, three companies—TCI Co., SHINY BRS GROUP, and Jia Jie Biomedical—have simultaneously advanced into overseas markets, launching full-scale efforts across Europe, the U.S., Japan, Southeast Asia, and Mainland China to capture international revenue growth opportunities.
2025-07-29 TaiMed Biologics' Trogarzo Partner TH Acquired by Future Pak; TaiMed Confirms Ongoing Collaboration and Enhanced Synergy TaiMed Biologics announced that its exclusive U.S. partner for the HIV drug Trogarzo, Theratechnologies (TH), has signed a definitive agreement with CB Biotechnology, an affiliate of Future Pak. Under the agreement, TH will be acquired for US$3.01 per share in cash, along with a contingent value right (CVR) of up to US$1.19 per share, bringing the total potential transaction value to US$254 million. The acquisition is expected to close in Q4 2025, pending shareholder and court approval.

2025-07-29 Biotech M&A Heats Up: Acquiring Drug Licenses and Technologies Becomes the New Strategy—Lotus Pharm, Handa, and Taiwan Bio Therapeutics Lead the Charge The wave of mergers and acquisitions in the biotech industry continues to intensify. Beyond traditional company takeovers, the acquisition of drug licenses and cutting-edge technologies—aimed at rapidly boosting revenues and enhancing R&D capabilities—has emerged as a new and increasingly strategic approach. Lotus Pharmaceutical alone acquired six drug licenses from international pharmaceutical companies in the first half of this year to expand its presence in Southeast Asia. Earlier this year, Handa Pharmaceuticals invested USD 30 million to acquire the blood cancer drug Phyrago (Dasatinib), while Taiwan Bio Therapeutics obtained the patent rights to the TregCel regulatory T cell (Treg) platform from U.S.-based TRACT for USD 3.5 million, strengthening its position in cell therapy.
2025-07-29 Foxconn and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Testing “Nursing Robot” in Taiwan; Japanese Media: Commercial Launch Set for 2026 According to Nikkei Asia, Foxconn Technology and Japanese robotics giant Kawasaki Heavy Industries have jointly developed a humanoid nursing robot, which is currently undergoing testing at a hospital in Taiwan. The robot is expected to be officially launched in the Taiwanese market in fiscal year 2026, with a sales target of 200 units by fiscal year 2027.

The revenue was primarily driven by steady sales growth of its novel rare blood cancer treatment, Ropeginterferon alfa-2b (Ropeg, also known as P1101), in the U.S. market. Despite the recent strength of the New Taiwan Dollar, the company still posted both monthly and yearly revenue gains, supporting continued revenue growth.
2025-07-29 Orient Europharma Introduces Photoimmunotherapy, Aiming for Taiwan Drug Approval Next Year Orient Europharma recently announced that it has secured the commercial rights to Rakuten Medical’s Alluminox platform-based photoimmunotherapy products in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This therapy was approved by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2021 and has since been used in nearly 1,000 treatment sessions. Currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials in Taiwan, Orient Europharma aims to obtain regulatory approval locally by next year.
2025-07-15 ApexBio Sees Q3 Revenue Dip, Eyes Rebound in Q4; CGM Clinical Submission Targeted by Year-End Medical device company ApexBio reported strong performance in the first half of the year, with revenue reaching NT$924 million for the January–May period, marking a 25.5% year-on-year increase. The company stated that due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding U.S. tariffs, it will temporarily shift focus toward the European and other markets. While third-quarter demand is expected to soften due to the summer holiday season, shipment momentum is projected to strengthen in the fourth quarter. As for its continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) product, ApexBio aims to complete development and submit a clinical trial application by the end of the year, with certification efforts to follow in 2025.

Pursues Asset-Light Global Expansion to Mitigate Tariff Risks In response to the growing trend of localized manufacturing triggered by Trump-era tariffs, TCI Co. announced the launch of its "asset-light global expansion strategy." In addition to its existing facilities in Taiwan, China, and the United States, the company has completed production line setup at its India plant this year and is actively evaluating the establishment of a liquid pouch production line in Europe. Further expansions into other regions are also planned to strengthen its global footprint.
